Commission made for :icondettankarmen7:

It was a real challenge to rig the cape, and it looks weird in certain poses, but I wanted to experiment with it. I know. It's a static Image, I could have just modeled it that way. I'm a hard person. Enjoy!

Software used: Blender 2.74
Total tri count: 868
Commissions are still open! For 12us$ (1200 pts) you get a turntable lowpoly retro-looking model.

how did you make this "gif" is it an animation or a render?

It is a gif animation... and its frames are renders from different angles. Isn't it how all animations are made?

:D If I try to move it in different positions it gets all twitchy, though. It's hard to animate such things in lowpoly characters!

Hm... I don't know much about 3D modelling, but have you tried making the cape thicker? You might try experimenting with different thicknesses and sizes in blender.

Oh, but when in lowpoly I tend to limit myself to classic 3d features, rather than advanced blender-exclusive tools. The cape actually has 0 depth, its just a bunch of planes.
That's how you do it in low poly, trying to reduce the number of polygons the model has to a minimum and not applying any modifyers.

Oh, my bad. I've wanted to get into pixel-art gaming but I don't know much about 3D gaming. Sorry.

:D Understandable, it took a while for me to do that jump. I feel better now that I can use both techniques. Sometimes they go along very well in the same project!

Thanks! The uv layout is a bit sloppy on all of my models though. With such small poly count and texture size its pretty hard to have everything my way... :D
